Instructor Biographies
Robert Stradley, 42, lives near Wrightwood, California with his wife Karla and two sons, Talon and Trent. Robert has had a lifelong fascination with the wilderness; he began extended wilderness trips in California’s High Sierra at age three. Later, he became active in the Boy Scouts of America where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouting.


Later Robert was the recipient of the Gold Congressional Award of Merit presented to him by the United States Congress. In 1986 he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Camp Administration, with an emphasis in wilderness programming, from Biola University.

In such organizations as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church groups, and various camping programs, Robert has been working with youth for over twenty years. He also has served students as a teacher’s aide and substitute teacher in the public schools.

Robert worked for five years at Disneyland, where he climbed the Matterhorn and taught Disney history and philosophy at the Disney University. Robert has been a rock-climbing instructor for more than 23 years and is also currently a member of the Nordic Ski Patrol.

Robert and his wife Karla began dog sledding in 1998 after joining an Iditarod team on a nighttime training run in Wasilla, Alaska. Since that time, he and his family have been training, racing, and educating people about the fascinating life of the sled dog. Currently, Robert is the director of Harmony Pines Christian Camp, a resident camping ministry in Wrightwood, California.
